Ítem Acceso Abierto Causas de conversión de cirugía laparoscópica a laparotomía en apendicectomía(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Jaime Tito, Josselyn Dayana; Ávila Narváez, Jorge Eduardo; 0106492093Abstract: Acute appendicitis is the most prevalent abdominal surgical pathology worldwide and the leading cause of emergency abdominal surgery. Its highest incidence has been observed in individuals aged 20-30 years, without a marked difference in terms of gender. Its clinical manifestation can vary, justifying the need for imaging studies for a more accurate diagnosis. Acute appendicitis can be conducted through laparoscopic or laparotomy surgery techniques. Objective: To determine the causes influencing the conversion from laparoscopic surgery to laparotomy in appendectomy. Methodology: Systematic narrative review study of narrative type that searched information or documents related to the causes of conversion from laparoscopic to laparotomy surgery in appendectomy in databases such as PubMed, SciELO, Elsevier, Google Scholar, and Scopus over the last five years, in Spanish or English. Results: The causes for conversion to laparotomy, according to the present study, include difficulty in dissection and approach, retrocecal appendix, previous laparotomy, appendiceal perforation, and bowel injury or tumor.
