- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoDiagnóstico de Sars-Cov-2 mediante la prueba de PCR-RT e hisopado antígeno(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2022) Illescas Quezada, Marco Iván; Romero Zhinin, Jaime Eduardo; Flores García, Mónica Susana; 010456494-3; 0302800495-5Introduction: PCR-RT (reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction) is considered a diagnostic test for detecting the SARS-CoV-2 virus as it allows to identify of genetic information of the virus in patients, which is why it has become the standard gold test due to its high sensitivity and specificity; on the other hand, the antigen-specific swab test is considered a direct qualitative detection method of SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein antigen, by using samples collected through nasal and nasopharyngeal swabs, to subsequently performed a lateral flow method by rapid immunochromatography. Objective: Explain the diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 using PCR-RT and antigen swab tests. Methodology: Documentary type, through a bibliographical review, based on scientific article publications related to the topic under study between 2019 and 2022. Results: RT-PCR directly analyzes the genetic information of the virus and therefore provides the highest level of sensitivity and specificity in the diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2, but its use is very limited due to its high cost and time of processing. However, the antigen swab test also has high sensitivity and specificity in detecting SARS-CoV-2 because it is a method of direct qualitative detection of the SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein antigen.
