Methodology: A literature review was conducted, in databases such as PubMed, SciELO, Medigraphic, Elsevier, and Cochrane, using keywords categorized within the Descriptors in Health Sciences (DeCS), including Bioethics, Principles, Nursing Care, Knowledge, and Quality. Results: By applying bioethical principles, it is possible to enhance the quality of care, and at the same time an appropriate level of knowledge of these principles in the professional and human sphere facilitates decision-making by nursing staff. Studies conducted in different countries worldwide reported a fair to medium level of knowledge on this subject among nursing professionals. It is worth mentioning that bioethics remains an integral part of patient care, improving the effectiveness of the interventions performed. In addition, there is a direct correlation between bioethics and the main nursing roles: educational, immediate care, administrative, research, and teaching. Conclusions: The application and integration of bioethics with its principles, beneficence, non-maleficence, autonomy, and justice, influence the quality of services provided since, with them in practice, it is possible to improve the health prognosis of patients thanks to a humanized treatment. Keywords: Bioethics, Principles, Quality, Nursing Care, Knowledge.
