It refers to the act or an instance of taking one's own life voluntarily and intentionally. There are diverse ways to perpetrate it. This research aimed to describe the risk factors associated with the prevalence of suicide in adolescents in Latin America. The methodological development included a qualitative design of descriptive scope applying a literature review to a selection of scientific articles in databases such as Dialnet, SciELO, Redalyc, and Scopus. Among the results of the studies reviewed, it was evidenced that adolescents face various challenges, such as the search for identity, academic pressures, interpersonal relationships, hormonal changes, and the influence of social networks. These factors can lead to stress, anxiety, and depression, thus increasing the risk of suicidal ideation.
