- ÍtemSolo MetadatosTécnica de irrigación ultrasónica en la terapia endodóntica: ventajas y desventajas(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Gutiérrez Sarmiento, Josué Israel; Moscoso Abad, María Elizabeth; 0107247157Irrigants play a very important role in endodontic therapy processes, so this scientific article focuses on identifying the advantages and disadvantages of the ultrasonic irrigation technique in endodontic therapy. For that purpose, we worked with a contrast of previous studies compiled through a descriptive methodology, which has been based on a bibliographic review of nineteen scientific articles. These articles had as inclusion criteria the year of publication (between 2017 and 2022), articles referring to descriptive observational studies, systematic reviews, in vitro experimental studies, and tests in endodontic therapies. This review made it possible to contrast the two main methods to generate ultrasound based on magnetostriction and the piezoelectric principle. On this basis, it is concluded that, as advantages, ultrasonic systems are more effective in the chemical, biological, and physical debridement of the root caal system than conventional irrigation systems, while being safe. On the other hand, as disadvantages, there is little liberation of space in the lateral wall of the canal, the lack of depth, the presence of poor irrigation flow in curved canals, and the possibility of displacement of debris towards the periapical when using ultrasonic systems.
