Objective: To evaluate the risk of developing DM2 using the FINDRISC test in people over 30 years of age, residents in the rural parish of Guapán. Methodology: A descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, in a probability sample of 144 people between men and women aged 30 years and older, without a diagnosis of diabetes, from Guapán parish, in Azogues canton. The FINDRISC test (consisting of 8 items) will be applied to evaluate the risk of developing DM2 in the next ten years. Results: The average age of the participants was 50 years; 52% were overweight and 33% obese; 41% of the population studied were at a slightly elevated risk of developing DM2 in the next ten years. Conclusion: The FINDRISC questionnaire is highly reliable for predicting DM2 risk. It is essential to educate the population about the clinical manifestations of this disease for early detection.
