Revisión de la literatura”(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2022) Guasco Pizha, Carlos Samuel; Tintin Rea, José Fernando; 0302121132; ., .OBJECTIVE: The investigation aimed to identify the clinical scope of micro-abrasive treatment in patients with dental fluorosis based on a literature review. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A documentary search was conducted in electronic databases such as SCOPUS, Web of Science, Scielo, Google Scholar, BVS (Virtual Health Library), and PubMed. Twenty-seven scientific articles published between 2015 and 2022 were analyzed; English and Spanish were the languages of publication, open access and the type of methodology used were randomized controlled clinical trials, systematic reviews with meta-analysis, bibliographic reviews, clinical cases, and experimental studies. RESULTS: Microabrasion is the first-choice treatment for dental fluorosis. However, in the presence of residual stains, it can be combined with other alternatives, such as resin infiltration, dental bleaching, or veneers. CONCLUSIONS: Microabrasion is effective in removing stains of mild and moderate fluorosis. In severe cases, alternatives can be selected because this technique is limited to eliminating 200 to 250um enamel thickness.
