Ítem Acceso Abierto Propuesta de diseño urbano-arquitectónico de un museo-biblioteca para el cantón Yacuambi: un espacio para la preservación y difusión de la identidad cultural(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2025) Gualan Gualan , Saimy Natalia; Pintado Vanegas, José Luis; Calle Gaón, María Gabriela; 1900790674; 0106645120This paper presents an architectural preliminary design for a museum-library in the canton of Yacuambi, aimed at preserving local cultural identity and promoting access to knowledge. The study identified the lack of adequate cultural facilities to address the educational and social needs of the Shuar and Saraguro communities. The research included territorial, climatic, regulatory, and sociocultural analyses of the environment. To determine the number of respondents, the finite sample size formula was applied, establishing a total of 82 inhabitants surveyed in the PIT: UM-01 using simple random sampling. The results showed that 100% of the respondents expressed interest in having a cultural space that integrates a library and a museum; 70% considered the preservation of local historical memory a priority; and 20% highlighted the importance of including science and technology in its activities. The proposal is based on urban-architectural design principles that prioritize functionality, environmental integration, and spatial flexibility, incorporating a formal language inspired by ancestral geometry and the use of local materials. In addition, prefabricated concrete construction systems were selected to optimize resources and execution time. It is concluded that the project will contribute to strengthening social cohesion, promoting cultural tourism, and improving the quality of life of local inhabitants.
