Ítem Solo Metadatos Germenectomia de tercer molar, reporte de caso clínico.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Flores Avalos, Fabricio Fernando; Palacios Vivar, Diego Esteban; 1106001181Third molar odontectomy is a surgical treatment of choice when morpho structural or topographical alterations of the dental germs and dysplastic disorders of the germ itself are observed, e.g., follicular cases and neoplasms. It is a surgical procedure that removes a dental organ with all its embryonic attachments in its early stages. Human beings' dental morphology has evolved, due to environmental factors and changes in their diet, leading to a decrease in masticatory function and, therefore, to a reduction in the size of the jaws, causing little space in the arches for the correct dental position. For this reason, germecodontectomy is currently a procedure to remove the germ of the third molar in the development stage to avoid dental crowding. It is a controversial treatment regarding the age that it should be performed since it depends on the patient's condition. However, there are certain advantages and disadvantages since the impact and evolution of this procedure vary depending on the patient's age. The orthodontist recommends the extraction after a radiographic analysis. More specifically, the volumetric analysis with Cone Beam computerized tomography, or cone beam digital volumetric tomography, is a 3D sectional imaging technique that exposes the patient to relatively low radiation doses. It offers advantages over traditional CT regarding reduced costs, accuracy, and practicality.
