Objective: To determine the risk factors and mistreatment of the elderly in the eastern parishes of Azogues. Methodology: A study was conducted with a quantitative correlational, cross-sectional, and analytical approach, using probabilistic sampling by clusters consisting of 577 older adults residing in the eastern parishes with a sample of 153 participants to whom the survey of the Geriatric Mistreatment Abuse was applied. It was created in Mexico in 2013 by Giraldo Rodríguez and Rosas Carrasco (Cronbach's alpha = 0.83). Results: One hundred fifty-three older adults participated, 61.4% women, 48.4% married, 98.7% mestizo, and 39.9% secondary. The most relevant morbidity was systemic arterial hypertension, with 63%. According to the types of maltreatment, the psychological was the most representative, with 14% given by economic factors and neglect in 99%. Conclusion: The most relevant risk factors were age, female gender, economics, neglect, and morbidity. The most recurrent type of maltreatment was psychological.
