Revisión de la literatura.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Feijóo Salinas, Gabriela Elizabeth; Molina Barahona, Rocío Magdalena; 0706240553Introduction: Post-exodontic alveolus undergoes three stages: inflammatory, proliferative, and remodeling stage, which help to restore supporting structures’ integrity. When detecting an oral trauma, the intrinsic and extrinsic hemostasis pathways are triggered, reaching the area to treat the injury. Objective: To evaluate the benefits of applying platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) in post-exodontic bone regeneration. Materials and methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study through a literature search in scientific databases such as PubMed, SciELO, Scopus, and Google Scholar. Results: Platelet-rich fibrin is considered a second-generation material because any type of aggregate or substance during centrifugation is not required. The literature mentions that platelet concentrations are indispensable for generating a guided restoration, adapting grafts, generating hemostasis, and eventually improving the healing process. Conclusions: The use of platelet-rich fibrin significantly improves bone regeneration by accelerating angiogenesis, which proves to be an autologous material that meets the required conditions to be considered a safe and beneficial material.
