- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoPerfil psicológico criminal y prevalencia de los trastornos mentales asociados a los asesinos seriales.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Astudillo González , María; Fajardo Delgado , Camila; Reivan Ortiz, Geovanny; 0106053002; 0106521859The crimes committed by various serial killers over the years continue to transcend time and remain significant both within and outside the scientific community. However, despite their high impact on society, the information disseminated is often biased, subjective, or lacks scientific validity. Therefore, discussing the criminal psychological profile and implications of certain mental illnesses, as well as their prevalence, is crucial for various professionals such as clinical psychologists, forensic experts, legal professionals, and related fields. For this reason, this study aimed to analyze the criminal psychological profile and prevalence of mental disorders in recorded cases of serial killers. Through Bibliographic research, reliable information was collected from books, news articles, and scientific journal articles. On the other hand, the main components of the serial killer profile were identified, including criminal typology, motivation, crime scene, geographical profile, victim profile, modus operandi, and signature. These factors were essential in obtaining results on prevalence, indicating that approximately 95% of this population suffers from mental disorders. In conclusion, the study compiled a series of characteristics, conduct, and thoughts directly associated with abnormal behavior. It also established a relationship between homicidal criminal behaviors and those pathologies that cause a greater predisposition to commit such illicit acts.
