Spondylosis is one of the leading causes of this pain. Lumbar spondylosis is the progressive degeneration of intervertebral discs in the lumbar region. The diagnosis of this pathology is established by physical examination and is complemented with imaging tests. Treatment is premised on physiotherapy and postural recommendations. Objective: This work aims to investigate lumbar spondylosis and its causes and to understand how this condition is diagnosed and the correct treatment for patients suffering from lumbar spondylosis to have an appropriate evolution and prognosis. Method: This literature review was conducted through a bibliographic search based on the last five years, using the PRISMA 2020 parameters. Keyword search employed MeSH and DeCS terms, Boolean operators, and/or. Results: Spondylosis affects 80% of adults and 3% of young people. The databases included "Google Scholar," "Elsevier," "PubMed," "Web Of Science," and "Scielo." Results: Spondylosis affects 80% of adults and 3% of young individuals. Diagnosis begins with anamnesis and physical examination and is complemented with imaging tests. The recommended treatment comprises non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), physiotherapy, and rest.
