- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoCuidados ancestrales durante el puerperio: Una revisión sistemática.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca, 2022-10-21) Espinoza Maldonado, Erika Johana; Peralta Cardenas, Maria Fernanda; 030231381-2ABSTRACT Introduction: Ancestral care is related to social-cultural factors and aspects such as family, territory, and economy; it is also considered both traditional practice and a means of health protection. Objective: The study describes the ancestral care given to the mother during puerperium. Methodology: The PRISMA model was applied using databases such as Scopus, Google Scholar, Medline, PubMed, Web of Science, and the national repositories. Therefore, fifteen articles were selected that meet the inclusion criteria, corresponding to the last five years, in English and Spanish that respond to the research question and proposed objectives. Results: Ancestral care related to nutrition is guided by culture, beliefs, costumes, and traditional food intake. Some women take their regular personal shower on the first day of puerperium and wander between the second and fifth day after birth. They wear comfortable clothes and warm up themselves to avoid any body- temperature changes. They maintain sexual abstinence from forty days to three months. They use medicinal plants to prepare infusions, poultices, creams and baths. The consumption of certain foods and carrying out heavy tasks are prohibited. Taking time out to rest and a strict diet are recommended. The intergenerational transmission of ancestral care in the puerperium is the responsibility of the family, friends and community. Conclusion: Puerperium represents one of the most valuable stages in a woman's life. It Is influenced by various expressions of care focused on knowledge, beliefs and cultural practices that result from patterns and experiences, whose transmission is intergenerational. Keywords: care, belief, traditional medicine, woman, puerperium.
