- ÍtemAcceso Abierto“Factores protectores del maltrato en adultos mayores del cantón Azogues. Diciembre 2022 – marzo 2023”(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Encalada Parapi, Brian Julian; Romero Galabay, Ignacia Margarita; 0302700307; ., .Introduction: Mistreatment of older adults is considered a public health problem due to the impact on their living conditions, reflecting the violation of their human rights. Objective: To determine the protective factors of mistreatment in older adults in Azogues canton from December 2022 to March 2023. Methodology: It was a quantitative, cross-sectional, correlational study. Through probabilistic cluster sampling, 368 people were chosen. The instruments were the frailty, Barthel, Minimental, and Abuse scales. Results: The following information was established: 221 (60.1%) were women, 108 (29.3) live in Azogues, 190 (51.6) were married, 357 (97.0%) were of mixed race, and 146 (39.7%) had secondary education. A statistically substantial relationship was established between abuse with the area of residence (p=0.02) and schooling (p=<0.00). There was a meaningful positive relationship between psychological, economic, sexual, global abuse, and neglect with frailty (p=<0.05). There were significant negative connections between psychological abuse with the Level of Dependence on Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) (p=0.03) and economic abuse with cognitive health (p=<0.00) and the level of dependency on performing ADLs (p=0.01). There was a positive correlation between financial mistreatment with age ranges (p=0.03). Conclusion: It was determined that the protective factor against psychological and financial mistreatment was the higher dependence on ADL and against economic mistreatment was the decreased cognitive health.
