Consequently, men currently also wish to be part of family planning; however, they only have two options: barrier contraception and vasectomy. Therefore, worldwide progress is being made to corroborate the use of hormonal male contraceptive methods with greater efficacy, safety, and reversibility for future usefulness. Objectives: To describe hormonal and non-hormonal contraceptive methods in males. Methodology: Through a bibliographic review, quality data was collected for this study which promoted the importance of knowledge of hormonal and non-hormonal male contraception through the database as Scopus and SciELO, among others. Results: Hormonal contraceptive methods consist of releasing synthetic hormones that produce less testosterone and, at the same time, fewer spermatozoa. Although it is still under study, observing the side effects caused by its use and the great impact on family planning worldwide is also relevant. Conclusion: For the future, considering family planning as a responsibility for both genders is a revolution in technology for which safe and reversible methods are sought.
