Parroquia Borrero, 2022”(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2022) Campoverde Pogyo, Mayra Alejandra; Parra Sánchez, Irene Maricela; Cordero Zumba, Nancy Beatriz; 0928896182; 0302177019; ., .Introduction: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) is a chronic disease affecting the world population, so it is necessary the application of secondary prevention tools that allow its screening, such as the case the FINDRISC test. Objective: To evaluate the risk of DM2 using the FINDRISC test. Methodology: Observational, descriptive, cross-sectional quantitative study in a probabilistic sample of 139 men and women residing in the Borrero parish in Azogues canton, with no known diagnosis of diabetes, using the FINDRISC test, which consists of 8 items. The data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics. The ethical principles of scientific research were respected, and an Ethics Committee evaluated the research protocol. Results: Most participants were women (70%), 71% were overweight/obese, and 42% of the selected sample had a slightly elevated risk level. Conclusion: The FINDRISC test constitutes an essential tool for screening persons at risk of developing DM2 in the next ten years; in Borrero, unhealthy lifestyles are visualized in its inhabitants.
