For the research, an inductive-deductive methodology of different scientific articles was used, where the results show that in different Latin American countries financial audits are prioritized and on the part of the state there is no attention or collaboration in terms of environmental audits related to the processes of management, use and conservation of water. As a result of this, it can be concluded that the application of environmental audits to companies that supply drinking water identify conditions due to operations of the drinking water system and prevention of environmental impacts
