Reporte de caso.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Cajas Chicaiza, Robinson Randy; Piedra Sarmiento, Xavier Bernardo; 0706027380Supernumerary teeth are common and can be classified according to their location in the dental arch into mesiodens, distodens, and paramolar. The mesiodens are located in the anterior midline of the maxilla, between the central incisors, usually by palatine. Treatment for supernumerary teeth varies depending on their location and the impact on the temporary or permanent teeth. The usual treatment is early elimination to avoid subsequent problems, and it is sought to do so before there is tooth displacement. The ideal time eliminating mesiodens ranges between 8-10 years. The objective of this report is to present the details of the treatment carried out in a clinical case involving a mesiodens, of a patient attended in the consultation of the Surgery Clinic of the Catholic University of Cuenca. Ten-year-old pediatric patient case report went to the dental clinic for interceptive orthodontic treatment due to lack of space for normal eruption of anterior teeth. During the intraoral examination, supragingival plaque and carious lesions were observed on several teeth. A submucosal supernumerary tooth (mesiodens) was found at the root level of part 2.1. A 3D image of the area in question was requested by performing a digital volumetric tomography of the conical beam or cone beam (CBCT) to observe its position and orientation and the planning of the treatment, this being the extraction of the same.
