Ítem Acceso Abierto Eficacia del ácido hialurónico en el tratamiento de parálisis de cuerdas vocales(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Cajamarca Suin, Lisseth Johmara; Ortega Barrazueta, Jorge Alfredo; 0104807953Background: Hyaluronic acid (HA) has emerged as a promising therapy for vocal fold paralysis. This biocompatible compound offers improvements in vocal mobility and quality by restoring vocal fold hydration and elasticity, opening new perspectives in the treatment of this condition. Objective: to describe the efficacy of hyaluronic acid in vocal fold paralysis. Methodology: a narrative literature review was carried out, including 12 scientific articles collected from different databases such as Medline, Lilacs, TripDataBase, Cochrane Library, Epistemonikos, by means of identification-typing-eligibility-selection. Results: studies on injectable laryngoplasty with HA indicate improvements in quality of life and voice in the short and medium term. They also suggest benefits in swallowing. Inflammatory complications, some potentially serious, were observed. Further research is needed to confirm the effects and optimize the procedure, highlighting the importance of careful care and monitoring of patients. HA acts in two ways: as a passive structural molecule by modulating hydration and extracellular matrix properties and as a signaling molecule, influencing cellular and anti-inflammatory responses. The most commonly used technique for HA injectable laryngoplasty is transcervical puncture guided by flexible laryngoscopy, the approach has advantages and challenges, and the choice depends on the clinical case and experience of the surgeon.
