They are relevant in areas with diverse topography. It aims to understand the impacts of pressure, water hammer, and material integrity on their performance, as well as to identify improvements to optimize their design and operation, thus ensuring a reliable water supply. Two inverted siphons in Sígsig canton, Azuay province, were evaluated as part of the Cerro Negro Churuco irrigation system. A comprehensive methodology was used, addressing aspects ranging from the structure of the siphons themselves to local hydrology, including operation and maintenance aspects. Different scenarios were simulated using Allievi software to anticipate possible critical points, integrating data obtained in situ and with Real Time Kinematics (RTK) technology. The analysis considers different scenarios for each siphon, incorporating accessories, and examining the maximum pressures in the pipeline. The results show a maximum pressure of up to 143.96 meters mca and a maximum underpressure of -215.92 mca, measured by including all the fittings in the most appropriate scenario for their operation. These findings highlight the necessity of implementing corrective measures to preserve the integrity of the system and ensure its optimal long-term performance.
