Objective: To identify in the literature the risk factors and prevalence of spinal cord injury in adults aged 19 to 64 using a systematic review. Methodology: A systematic literature review was conducted from 2018 to 2022 in Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science; this study was conducted following the recommendations of the PRISMA method. The inclusion criteria were empirical articles published in English and Spanish. Results: After selecting fifteen papers, the mean prevalence was 41.5%, and traffic accidents and falls were the most relevant risk factors. Conclusion: It is important to generate public health prevention policies to reduce the prevalence of spinal cord injuries due to accidents and falls.
