Revisión de literatura.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Bravo Torres, Christian André; Cuesta Nieto, Paul Esteban; 1105337966Introduction: Polymerization shrinkage stress is a common problem in restoring teeth with composite resins, resulting in loss of adhesion, microleakage, postoperative sensitivity, and restoration edge fractures. Both nanohybrid and Bulk Fill resins are materials used in dentistry to restore damaged and leaking teeth; however, there is controversy about which resin type presents a lower polymerization shrinkage stress. Objective: To compare, through a literature review, the level of polymerization shrinkage stress of nanohybrid resins vs. bulk fill resins. Materials and methods: The research uses a documentary approach to analyze the impact of materials on polymerization shrinkage stress. A literature review is performed using various databases and specific keywords. Selected studies published since 2017 will be reviewed in detail for relevant information. Conclusion: Although further research is needed, Bulk Fill resins appear to be the best choice for posterior teeth restoration due to their lower polymerization shrinkage stress. Implementing proper placement techniques may also help decrease the shrinkage stress of nanohybrid resins and improve the durability of the restorations.
