The general objective of this research is to analyze how informal social control operates through the media and how it can affect the principle of presumption of innocence, using a qualitative descriptive methodological approach in addition to the systematic method. This research shows that the media fulfill their social role, but their overreach is harmful since it jeopardizes the subject’s principle of innocence in the process.
