Ítem Acceso Abierto Manejo de la infección por el virus de la viruela símica(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Astudillo Vizcaino, Joseline Cristina; Flores Montesinos, Carlos Enrique; 0105213813Monkeypox has caused concern throughout the world and especially among health personnel about whether or not this virus will constitute a new public health threat. The monkeypox virus is a viral zoonosis that is caused by the orthopoxvirus virus, which is a double-stranded deoxyribonucleic acid virus. There are important differences between certain symptomatological characteristics of monkeypox and those with other types of smallpox that do not differ much. Knowing which are the diagnostic methods that can be chosen to use to identify this virus, benefit from identifying which virus we are facing and thus it will be possible to find the treatment that can obtain the best results. So far there is no specific treatment for patients with monkeypox infection, however, it is being managed with antivirals that have been used before and with certain vaccines for prevention, showing benefits. A narrative bibliographic review will be carried out with the main objective of describing the management of monkeypox infection, in order to conclude which of the administered antivirals has given the best results against this virus.
