Ítem Acceso Abierto Impacto de la personalidad dependiente en las relaciones interpersonales de los adultos tempranos.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2025) Flores Robles, María del Cisne; Arias Lucero, Mario Alfredo; Torres Moscoso, Amanda de los Ángeles; 1150571931; 1104088321Dependent personality affects between 3% and 5% of the adult population. This personality type is associated with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, which significantly impact the individual's relationships. Furthermore, the negative influence of dependent personality on interpersonal dynamics underscores the importance of exploring this topic in greater depth. As it is an underexplored area, this research needs to achieve a more precise and detailed understanding of dependent personality and its relevance in the social and emotional contexts. Therefore, the objective is to analyze the characteristics of dependent personality and its impact on the interpersonal relationships of young adults. Methodology: A qualitative and descriptive literature review was conducted using databases such as PubMed and Scopus, where studies from 2019 to 2024 were selected that analyzed dependent personality in young adults, excluding duplicate documents and those that did not meet the proposed objectives. Results: According to the studies, dependent personality typically emerges in late adolescence (ages 15-18) and consolidates in early adulthood (ages 20-40), affecting autonomy and interpersonal relationship dynamics, leading to unstable relationships that are vulnerable to toxic patterns and significantly impacts personal, social, and family development. Conclusion: This research shows that dependent personality limits the quality of interpersonal bonds a person can maintain, affecting the previously mentioned areas and also the individual’s self-perception.
