This is, having as an initial approach, the development of electronic commerce as a latent phenomenon that has gained strength in recent years in Latin America and Ecuador, which has generated modifications in the different regulatory spheres of our country. With this premise, the research is focused on studying Ecuadorian law regarding rights, obligations, sanctions, and reparations between suppliers and consumers. We have also relied on the comparative law between Mexico and Brazil to obtain different points of view that help to find weaknesses and/or strengths in the legal reality of e-commerce in Ecuador. The scope of the sanctions established in the organic law for consumer defense was also discussed to determine the effectiveness of applying such law in situations involving electronic commerce and how the legal bodies resolve conflicts arising in this commercial area. The role played by consumers in their defense is to safeguard their rights and access to a legal certainty that provides them with an agile response to their damages and losses
