Ítem Acceso Abierto Elaboración de un manual de bioseguridad para el laboratorio clínico del Hospotial Básico de Saraguro(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2022) Abad Medina, Yessenia Vanessa; Arteaga Sarmiento, Sandra Denisse; 110485382-3Biosafety is defined as preventive measures aimed at establishing control of different factors when exposed to occupational hazards from chemical, physical or biological agents, among others, due to multiple occupational accidents that occur today in different work activities such as clinical laboratories, either with sharps, chemical reagents or body fluids and could trigger a disease caused by various infectious agents. Objective: To prepare a biosafety manual to be implemented in the clinical laboratory of the Hospital Básico Saraguro to reduce the biological risks to which health personnel are exposed daily, as well as the necessary protective equipment to be used depending on the activities, establishing specific standards to prevent accidents and incidents related to biological and chemical risks, mainly in the daily activities of the personnel. Methodology: A descriptive study of the documentary bibliographic review was carried out, based on publications of articles that made it possible to elaborate and describe the main biosafety standards, guidelines, and procedures competent within the clinical laboratory, to reduce the biological risk factors that affect the personnel of the Hospital Básico de Saraguro and the environment. Results: The manual provided the necessary basis and fundamentals for the health personnel to safely carry out the activities within the laboratory.
