Ítem Acceso Abierto Signos lesionales por compresión cervical ocasionada por asfixia mecánica y diagnóstico necrópsico(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Abad Arce, Johanna Alexandra; Abad Arce, Johanna Alexandra; 0302560412Background: Mechanical asphyxia, particularly cervical compression, represents a challenge in the identification of specific lesional signs in cases of mechanical asphyxia and their necropsy diagnosis. Variability in the presentation of cervical injuries, and the lack of consensus in their interpretation emphasize the need for a literature review. Objective: To conduct a literature review related to lesional signs of cervical compression caused by mechanical asphyxia and their necropsy diagnosis. The aim is to identify distinctive patterns in cervical injuries, consider contextual factors, and improve understanding of underlying mechanisms. Methods: The PRISMA method will be used. The search strategy will be based on keywords and accessing databases through the library of the Catholic University of Cuenca. Selection criteria will be established to include empirical and experimental studies, as well as documents published between 2018 and 2023. Data collection will be performed using a research card to identify injury patterns and associated factors. Results: The forensic implications of the macroscopic lesions are significant, supporting suspicion of the cause of death and contributing to building a strong case in the judicial process. However, it highlights the importance of a detailed autopsy and further investigations to understand the variability in the appearance of these lesions. In summary, this study reinforces the relevance of macroscopic injuries in the investigation of homicides by hanging and strangulation, and underscores their critical role in the pursuit of justice.
