Ítem Acceso Abierto Enfermedad de Kawasaki, Reporte de caso(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Muñoz Moscoso, María Paz; Vintimilla Maldonado, Max Bonfilio; *0107124356Kawasaki Disease, described by Tomisaku Kawasaki in 1967, is an acute febrile systemic vasculitis of unknown etiology occurring in children under five years of age. It is the most common primary cause of pediatric heart disease, affecting medium-sized arteries, particularly the coronary arteries, in 15 to 25% of cases reported in developed countries. This case report aims to investigate in detail the confirmed diagnosis of a 6-year-old female patient who presented with Kawasaki Disease. The clinical manifestations presented by the patient did not correspond to those typically reported in classic Kawasaki disease. The in-hospital treatment consisted of pharmacological measures indicated in international protocols, including intravenous immunoglobulin, acetylsalicylic acid, and, being a patient at risk due to her pathological history, corticosteroids were added.
