Caso de estudio vía Cuenca – Azogues(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Peñafiel Morocho, Christian Mauricio; Icaza Alvarez, Daniel Orlando; 0104720776The project "Design and Simulation of a Hybrid Wind/Photovoltaic System for Public Lighting on Highways, with a Case Study on the Cuenca-Azogues Road" addresses the problem of power outages in Ecuador due to its dependence on hydroelectric power. The research aims to develop a sustainable energy solution that ensures a stable and diversified electricity supply. The design of a hybrid wind/photovoltaic system is justified by its ability to improve energy stability and reduce carbon emissions, benefiting both the environment and the economy. The objective is to design and simulate an efficient hybrid system for street lighting. This descriptive and experimental study focused on the Cuenca - Azogues road. The studied population includes the LED luminaires installed on this road, with a sample of 1,890 luminaires. The results are expected to validate the technical feasibility of the proposed system, providing a replicable solution in other regions.
