Ítem Acceso Abierto Efectividad de tratamiento con células madre aplicado a trastornos de la articulación temporomandibular. Revisión de la literatura(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2022) Llivisaca Aucapiña, Ana Gabriela; Tello Larriva, Mónica Priscila; 0105253264; ., .The application of stem cells in the temporomandibular joint offers a novel treatment in dental clinical practice, especially for those disorders that suffer from degenerative diseases accompanied by pain, condylar resorption and inflammation. These cells have a regenerative capacity that helps repair condylar cartilage and stops bone degradation with anti-inflammatory effects. Objective: To analyze the efficacy of stem cells in temporomandibular disorders, establishing a characterization of the type of cells suitable for temporomandibular joint disorders. Materials and methods: A literature review was conducted, and the search was performed in digital databases such as Pubmed, Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, scielo, Elsevier, and Taylor & Francis, where the inclusion and exclusion criteria were established, selecting 40 articles relevant to the topic, with a maximum age of 6 years. Results: The application of stem cells promotes bone quality of the subchondral eminence and reduces cartilage degeneration, producing anti-inflammatory effects. Stem cells obtained from bone marrow are more excellent application in degenerative disorders or diseases that present pain. Conclusions: The efficacy of stem cells in temporomandibular disorders improves and stops bone and cartilage destruction of the joint; however, further studies in humans are required to validate the information presented.
