Método de Demirjian como auxiliar en la estimación de la edad en la odontología forense mediante una Revisión Sistemática

OBJECTIVE: To determine the effectiveness of the Demirjian method in age estimation in forensic sciences through a systematic review. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The research was conducted following the guidelines of the PRISMA statement, with a modification in the PICO question to form a question (PIO): Is the Demirjan method an aid in estimating dental age in forensic dentistry? The databases used from the virtual library of the Catholic University of Cuenca included PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and SciELO. Articles in English and Spanish were selected as inclusion criteria. The CONSORT scale for randomized clinical trials and the STROBE scale for non-randomized observational studies were used to assess the quality of the articles. RESULTS. The method does estimate age, but not in all ethnic groups. CONCLUSIONS: The Demirjian method does estimate age, but other factors also determine it.
