La tipificación del delito de femicidio en Ecuador, ineficaz en su intento de control social

This research has examined the ineffectiveness of the criminalization of femicide in Ecuador as a means of social control. This study had a qualitative approach, a dogmatic analysis of the law as an instrument of control was performed. Subsequently, whether the management of the crime of femicide has been successful since the law was published in the official registry investigating the number of femicide crimes that occurred from August 10, 2014, to December 31, 2022, based on data from governmental and non-governmental entities was analyzed. This investigation revealed that there had been a general rising in the crime of femicide since its classification; it also demonstrated that the least violent year against women was 2014, and the most violent was 2022. It was corroborated that the incorporation of the crime of femicide into the Ecuadorian legal system has failed in its purpose of control.
