Ítem Acceso Abierto Indicaciones de episiotomía en primíparas versus riesgo y complicaciones(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Mosquera Mogrovejo, Jonnathan Andrés; Muñoz Cajilima, Juan Pablo; 0103655668During normal childbirth, in the expulsive phase, there may be complications such as tearing, shoulder dystocia, and fetal macrosomia, among others, which occur more frequently in primigravid women, so episiotomy is necessary to avoid these complications. Therefore, this study establishes the pertinence of episiotomy use in primiparous women versus its complications. The methodology used corresponds to a qualitative approach, which includes a systematic review of the use of episiotomy. For this purpose, a series of studies or scientific articles will be considered following these inclusion criteria, studies carried out in the last five years, and studies taken from indexed databases such as Scopus, PubMed, and Science, among others. The present study was carried out to determine the beneficial effects of episiotomy in nulliparous women. After reviewing the pertinent literature, it was determined that in primiparous women, it is necessary to perform an episiotomy in 80% to 90% of the cases because the vaginal canal is narrow, and it is risky if the surgical practice is not done. In 85% of the cases where this technique has not been applied, some type of perianal trauma is present, and between 1 and 8% of the cases, there will be severe perianal tearing. Among the main complications, there are perianal pain, hematoma, hemorrhages, infections, among others.
