This degree project was developed to analyze the scientific evidence on the importance and effects of the kangaroo mother care method in premature newborns. lt was carried out a methodology with a bibliographic review, applying an exhaustive search through indexed journals, reports and web pages of academic relevance. The information obtained reflects the importance of the kangaroo mother care method in reducing neonatal mortality, which has three necessary components: kangaroo position, breastfeeding and timely follow-up. In addition, it is based on the maternal bond where the attachment between mother and child is promoted and even contributes to a correct feeding with breast milk. lt was found that one of the factors of deaths is due to poor thermal regulation, especially in premature babies because this state generates hypothermia. lt is also necessary to promote information means in arder to help mothers to practice this methodology strengthening the baby's health.
