This study analyzes the behavior of Ecuador's economic cycle concerning the components of economic activity, oil revenues, and remittances sent from abroad for the period 2000-2021. The Baxter-King filter and the results obtained with the Hodrick-Prescott filter were contrasted. Among the main findings, it is evident that consumption, public spending, investment, exports, imports, and oil revenues are pro-cyclical, while remittances show the opposite behavior. Finally, in the temporality analysis, the results differ in the filters; however, the Baxter-King filter adheres better to the economic theory.
