Ítem Acceso Abierto Regulación emocional y estrés en mujeres ecuatorianas(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Guiracocha Hurtado, Joseline Micaela; Quinde Castro, Diana Patricia; Campoverde Pesántez, Augusta Ximena; 010675538-2; 010468910-4Emotion Regulation (ER) is the faculty of human beings that allows them to face several events throughout their lives assertively. However, if the person has low levels in their ER, it could cause high levels of stress, which is triggered by a series of negative situations that cause physiological, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral reactions. Objective: To analyze the relationship between perceived stress and emotion regulation. Materials and methods: The research was descriptive, quantitative, cross-sectional, correlational, and non-experimental. The sample was purposive and non-probabilistic, using a database from the project called "In times of COVID-19: Influence of stress, procrastination and difficulties in emotion regulation due to social confinement in Ecuadorian population." In a total of 670 female participants of the Ecuadorian society, with ages between 19 to 64 years old, the following batteries were used: the "Perceived Stress Scale" and "Emotional Self-Regulation Questionnaire." Results: Spearman's Rho showed a correlation of 0.253** between ER and PS, 0.252** between RC (for its Spanish acronym) and PS, and 0.225** between SE (for its Spanish acronym) and PS, with a significance level of 0.000. Conclusion: Emotion regulation plays a fundamental role in reducing stress levels; likewise, sociodemographic variables can be considered stressors that intervene in PS levels in the Ecuadorian female population.
