Ítem Acceso Abierto Control de la reproducción en gatas, mediante los métodos de ovariohisterectomía ventral y lateral(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2014) López Cabrera , Rodrigo Xavier; Palomeque Tapia , Mónica Enriqueta; 0104423074Given the large problem that causes the uncontrolled reproduction of cats in the city, it has been raised this issue by putting it as a transcendental situation, since there is a growing number of street cats, inside our city, because of the lack of control to stop it. This investigation was carried out in Sayausi parish province of Azuay. Here, the methods used during the sterilization are; the ventral ovariohysterectomy (traditional) and the ovariohysterectomy technical side which is the technique to be implemented in order to demonstrate its benefits as well as to demonstrate the lower risks it has. As a result, this investigation has been called “Control of reproduction of cats through the use of side ovariohysterectomy and ventral methods.” To perform a significant amount of sterilizations and check their pros and cons of each one of them, it was carry out a statistical study in Sayausi parish, where the results acquired from the study, points out that in twenty cats it was possible to carry out a surgery by using the ventral and side surgery techniques. In the ventral technique process, it was used anesthesia based on the combination between Ketamine + Acepromazine, while in the lateral a drug called Xylazine was used during the surgery. The results acquired after using these two techniques points out that the lateral technique was carried out in less time; furthermore it can be considered more economic and practical. But, the animals presented some imbalances in the physiologic balances during the surgery. Furthermore, this is a technique that can cause more traumas or pain rather than the ventral technique. However, the time recovery was the same in both cases. Finally, in the lateral technique some rapid mooring were implemented and it helped to optimize the technique accelerating it and lowering the costs; furthermore the lateral technique is highly recommendable.
