Ítem Acceso Abierto Relación entre el uso de redes sociales y hábitos de vida no saludables en adolescentes: Una revisión bibliográfica(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2025) Ajila Jiménez, Erick Damian; Torres Palchisaca, Zoila Torres; 1105149437Sedentary behavior among adolescents, influenced by excessive social media use, has arisen as a public health issue. Based on this premise, this research aims to conduct a literature review on the relationship between social media use and unhealthy lifestyle habits in adolescents, providing a synthesis of data that contextualizes the issue. The methodology involved searching databases such as Redalyc, Google Scholar, SciELO, and Scopus using terms related to sedentary behavior, social media, and adolescents. Twenty articles published between 2015 and 2023 were selected. The results indicate that Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook are adolescents' most commonly used social media platforms. Excessive use of these platforms is linked to problems such as obesity, sleep disturbances, anxiety, and body image disorders. Additionally, negative effects on academic performance and interpersonal relationships were observed. However, the study also identified that Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) can promote healthy habits. In conclusion, excessive social media use contributes to a sedentary lifestyle, affecting adolescents' physical and mental health. Implementing educational interventions and policies that encourage a balanced use of social media while promoting physical activity and healthy habits within this population is essential. Keywords: social media, adolescents, sedentary behavior, unhealthy habits, physical activity
