The lack tourism infrastructure on Pan de Azúcar Hill, in the San Juan Bosco canton, has limited tourism development in the area, affecting visitor retention, accessibility, and safety. This deficiency prevents the site from taking full advantage of its tourism and economic potential, impacting both the local community and the region’s development. To address this issue, a descriptive and exploratory approach is used to gather data on environmental conditions, tourist needs, authorities, and sustainable strategies adopted in reference cases. Based on this information, the design of a sustainable tourist shelter is proposed, incorporating passive design strategies and renewable solar energy systems to minimize environmental impact. The project aims to improve tourism infrastructure, thereby boosting tourism, strengthening the local economy, and promoting conservation of the natural environment. The success of the project will be evaluated through various factors, such as visitor acceptance, the level of tourist satisfaction reported by the municipality, and the environmental impact of the shelter, always seeking a balance between tourism development and environmental sustainability.
