Ítem Acceso Abierto Actualización terapéutica en el manejo de cáncer de mama triple negativo. Revisión Sistemática(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2025) Abad Espinoza, Camila Estefanía; Bermeo Ortega, Juan Carlos; 0302224969Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) lacks hormone receptors and the HER2 receptor, presenting a biological aggressiveness that challenges clinical management. Despite the molecular diversity within TNBC, its classification has no significant application in clinical practice. Objective: To analyze the current therapeutic approaches for triple-negative breast cancer in terms of its responsiveness to treatment and its association with prognosis. Methodology: The research focuses on the global epidemiology of breast cancer, emphasizing TNBC. A comprehensive search strategy of scientific articles in various databases was employed, with defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: Breast cancer is a global health issue, with TNBC being more aggressive and more prevalent among young women. A relationship is observed with environmental chemical substances and modifiable factors that influence the risk of developing it. TNBC is mainly treated with platinum-based chemotherapy despite its significant side effects. Conclusions: TNBC presents substantial clinical challenges due to its aggressiveness and lack of conventional therapeutic receptors. Current therapeutic approaches, such as chemotherapy with platinum compounds, have shown efficacy but carry considerable side effects. Revisión Sistemática(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2025) Idrovo Idrovo, Cinthya del Rocío; Bermeo Ortega, Juan Carlos; 0302932934Background: Breast cancer over time has been on the rise; however, advances in medical technology have led to the development of improved techniques aimed at enhancing patients' quality of life. Among these is oncoplastic surgery, which has had a significant impact on the field of medicine by allowing the removal of the tumor while preserving the breast. Objective: To analyze the role of oncoplastic surgery in the treatment of breast cancer through a systematic review of articles and studies published within the past five years. Methods: Relevant information was collected from original scientific articles, meta-analyses, observational studies, and gray literature, including undergraduate and postgraduate theses. Notable databases such as SciELO, PubMed, Scopus, and Elsevier were used. Through analyzing these sources, key data of interest were identified, which were subsequently used to establish the study's findings. Results: The principal advantages of this surgical technique were identified, as well as the main complications, highlighting the order of frequency of occurrence, and finally, the influence on the lifestyle of each patient in the physical, emotional, sexual, and other aspects. Conclusions: Oncoplastic surgery is one of the first and most accepted treatment options for breast cancer, since it has been determined that its reoperation rates are relatively low and its positive contribution to patients’ quality of life. As a preventive and therapeutic measure, several strategies have been proposed, including oophorectomy, especially indicated for women at high risk of developing this disease. However, this surgery can have significant adverse effects. Therefore, the aim of this research is to analyze in detail the impacts that oophorectomy has on the health of women who undergo this procedure and the effects that this intervention produces on the development and evolution of breast cancer. Methods: The PRISMA 2020 methodology will be applied to collect scientific studies on oophorectomy in the treatment of breast cancer. The search will be performed in databases such as SCOPUS, PubMed, Cochrane, SciELO and Web of Science. Original articles in English or Spanish, published since 2019, with open access and full text, that establish a clear relationship between oophorectomy and breast cancer will be included. Results: The systematic review identified 8845 studies, but after applying the selection and evaluation criteria, 25 relevant articles were included that specifically contributed to the fulfillment of the stated objectives. Conclusions: Oophorectomy is presented as a powerful tool in the treatment of breast cancer, especially in luminal cases and in women with BRCA mutations. However, its implementation should be carefully considered, taking into account the short and long term benefits and side effects. Keywords: oophorectomy, side effects, breast cancer, BRCA1/2
