Ítem Acceso Abierto Autopercepción y estereotipos en la sexualidad del adulto mayor.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2025) Heras Lozada, Ruth Valeria; Pizarro Ludeña, Ana Cristina; Polo Martínez, Eulalia Maribel; 0803579945; 0705311876Sexuality in older adults is often overlooked or undervalued due to cultural, educational, and social prejudices. Studies indicate that stereotypes and self-perception influence older adults' experiences and attitudes toward sexuality. This study aimed to analyze the influence of self-perception and stereotypes on the sexuality of older adults, identifying factors such as age, gender, and beliefs that affect their sexual behavior. A qualitative literature review was conducted, selecting articles published between 2019 and 2024 from academic databases, including PubMed and Web of Science. The results revealed that older adults perceived their sexuality as a relevant aspect of their well-being. However, it was often influenced by prejudices that associated old age with asexuality or lack of sexual interest. Women faced more barriers due to gender roles that restricted the expression of their sexuality. Furthermore, a lack of sexual education and professional support hindered their overall experience of sexuality. These results, as such, underscore the importance of sexuality in old age as a central aspect of good emotional and physical well-being. In conclusion, sexuality in old age remains relevant to the emotional and physical well-being of older adults. However, social stereotypes and a lack of information and support, limit its expression. This study provides theoretical value for creating more effective intervention models and therapeutic approaches according to the needs of this population group.Ítem Acceso Abierto Programa de reducción de estrés basado en mindfulness para la disminución del dolor en el cáncer de mama.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2025) Ordoñez Martínez, José Andrés; Polo Martínez, Eulalia Maribel; 0107945420This study aimed to analyze the efficacy of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program in reducing pain in women with breast cancer. Pain is a common symptom in this population and significantly impacts their quality of life. This research employed a systematic review using both qualitative and quantitative approaches, focusing exclusively on randomized clinical trials published between 2014 and 2024. The CONSORT statement and the RoB 2.0 tool were used to assess reporting quality and risk of bias, respectively. The search was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, and ProQuest, yielding 11 articles. These studies showed a reduction in physical pain within the intervention group; however, this reduction was not statistically significant compared to the control group. Furthermore, it had a small Cohen's d effect (d = 0.17). In line with this, a high risk of bias was identified through the RoB 2.0 tool in most documents and moderate reporting quality could be determined through CONSORT. In conclusion, the included trials did not demonstrate a statistically or clinically relevant difference in pain perception between groups, and the effect size was small. These findings highlight the need to explore other complementary interventions for pain management in this population.
