Corn stands out as the sole cereal suitable for human and animal consumption. Climate change-related alterations suggest the search for alternative animal feed. This research aimed to assess the effects of planting density on the agronomic performance of the P4021 corn hybrid in the Oña canton, Azuay province. A Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) was used, consisting of four treatments and four replicates, with a total of 16 experimental units of 12 m2 each across a 448 m2 area. Four planting densities —20, 40, 60, and 80 cm between plants, all at 60 cm between furrows— were tested, with two seeds dibbled per hole. The results revealed that planting density significantly impacts the agronomic performance of P4021 corn. Although no significant differences were observed on variables like height and leaf count, there were statistical differences in the variable weight per treatment (kg), highlighting the T1 treatment (40 cm between plants) with a mean of 27.6 kg. The cost analysis considers the T1 treatment as the optimal choice for planting this hybrid, compared to the control treatment (T4). In conclusion, planting density affects Hybrid P4021 cultivation, with 40 cm between plants yielding the best results in terms of profitability in the cost of production analysis, resulting in a 170% increase, making the T1 treatment ideal for corn silage.

Efecto de la jalea real en la crioconservación de semen en gallos
(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Merchán Lojano, Michelle Sabrina; Moscoso Piedra, Michelle Sabrina; 0107400889
In Ecuador, 22% of the volume of poultry production is represented by backyard chicken farming, which is why this activity needs to be further developed. The reproduction of these birds is associated with a natural behavior; however, the genetic variety of these birds does not enable standardizing some processes that provide higher performances. Royal Jelly is a compound rich in nutrients and micronutrients, some of which are beneficial and others potentially toxic. The use of reproductive biotechnologies offers an alternative for this purpose. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of adding Royal Jelly as an alternative for cryopreservation. Seminal samples were extracted from 4 roosters by dorsal- abdominal massage and then evaluated against doses of 0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75%, and 1.00% of Jelly, in 5 repetitions. Considering the unpromising results of these doses, a lower one of 0.025% was added, which showed less severe effects, after evaluating the permeability and integrity of the membrane; thus, the cryopreservation of rooster sperm with Royal Jelly has various biochemical factors such as the effect of 10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid or methodological factors such as the sperm stabilization time. that need to be further studied to justify their negative effects. However, as there is no specific literature on the subject, this research provides a basis for concluding that Royal Jelly has lethal and sublethal effects on backyard rooster sperm. Dependencia emocional en mujeres víctimas de violencia.
(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Yumbla Salinas, Kennedy; Padilla Samaniego, María; 1400875124
The objective of this study focused on women with emotional dependence who have been victims of intimate partner violence. The methodology used was qualitative, and the information was collected through a bibliographic review using the PRISMA method for study selection. The search was done through the following digital repositories and databases: Web of Science, sciELO, PubMed, and Scopus. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 22 scientific articles were selected for the literature review. After analyzing the results, it was found that psychosocial factors such as low education, economic precariousness, a history of childhood violence, an anxious attachment style, and emotional dependence are characteristic of women who suffer from intimate partner violence. In addition, the consequences of violence include low self-esteem, loss of life satisfaction, the risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections, and complications in pregnancy.

Comportamientos de riesgo en adolescentes víctimas de sexting.
(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Salto Arízaga , Cristopher; Velecela Lema, Marco; Polo Martínez, Eulalia; 0350344511; 0350005476
Sexting is the practice of sending messages with explicit content either through photos, messages, audio, or videos by using digital devices. Technological advances have led adolescents to seek new ways of communicating and interacting, generating a trend among teenagers; the spread of this erotic content has caused physical and behavioral consequences in its victims. This action results in risk behaviors, which can be voluntary or involuntary and can affect third parties. The main objective of this study was to determine the risk behaviors presented by adolescent victims of sexting and their major psychological consequences. The methodology implemented was qualitative-descriptive, using a literature review that included databases such as SciELO, Redalyc, Dialnet, Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed. The results obtained show that males play the role of aggressors while females are the victims; it was established that risk behaviors among the victims, including sexual practices at an early age, unprotected sex, substance abuse, and isolation, among others, affect their physical, psychological, and social lives. The psychological consequences include depression, anxiety, difficulty in establishing social relationships, low self-esteem, and even suicide.

EL HORMIGÓN ARMADO COMO LENGUAJE FORMAL, ESTRUCTURAL Y MODELADOR DE ESPACIOS EN LA ARQUITECTURA MODERNA: RESIDENCIAS DE PAULO MENDES DA ROCHA (1964-1970)
(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Zambrano León, María Paula; Velez Torres, German Andrés; 0350078382
This study aims to evaluate the impact of reinforced concrete and structural configuration on the generation of spaces and the formal result in residences through reconstruction and comparative study employing matrices to demonstrate the formal values of modern architecture. This research builds upon the historical precedents of Latin American modern architecture to analyze two residential works by the same architect (Paulo Mendes da Rocha) belonging to an architectural movement that appeared in a specific era under social, political, economic, evolutionary contexts and knowledge migration. It highlights the ongoing relevance of Paulo Mendes da Rocha's creations, which, through construction, develop projects that harmoniously integrate with the urban environment and generate flexible and high-quality spaces by manipulating light and using concrete as the primary material.
