Objetivo: comparar la velocidad entre la aparatología lingual y labial mediante una revisión bibliográfica de la literatura para conocer las diferencias y efectividades de estos dos tratamientos. Metodología: en este estudio se realizó una revisión bibliográfica y documentada sobre la literatura de la ortodoncia lingual y labial y la relación con la velocidad, duración y tiempo de tratamiento mediante las siguientes palabras claves: orthodontics, Labial, Lingual, fixed orthodontic, comparison, time y speed y se seleccionaron 25 artículos. Resultados: sobre la evaluación de la efectividad y el tiempo total de tratamiento entre aparatos labiales y linguales se demostró que los procedimientos de estas dos aparatologías se complementaron. Conclusiones: se pudo concluir que existe una disparidad de los resultados de los artículos analizados con relación a la velocidad y tiempo del tratamiento, tanto de la odontología lingual como labial. Razón por la cual, no se puede afirmar que exista diferencia en eficacia, velocidad, tiempo o duración entre estos dos tratamientos.Introduction: Nowadays, orthodontic treatments have evolved to meet esthetic and functional objectives through technological and industrial development. Objective: To compare the speed between lingual and labial appliances using a literature review to know the differences and effectiveness of these two treatments. Methodology: In this study, a documented literature review on lingual and labial orthodontics and the relationship with the treatment speed, duration, and time was conducted using the following keywords: Orthodontics, labial, lingual, comparison, time, and speed. Twenty-five articles were selected. Results: The evaluation of the effectiveness and total treatment time between labial and lingual appliancesshowed that the procedures of these two appliances complemented each other. Conclusions: It was possible to conclude that there is a disparity in the results of the articles analyzed about the treatment speed and time, both for lingual and labial dentistry.
