Background: This study aimed to determine the relationship between the level of physical activity and the types of motivation among members of the San Francisco Taxi Cooperative. It was conducted using a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design and a descriptive-correlational scope. The sample consisted of 50 driver-members aged between 20 and 65 years. For data collection, the BREQ-2 questionnaire, which evaluates motivation toward exercise, and the short version of the IPAQ, which estimates the level of physical activity in MET-min/week, were administered. The reliability of the BREQ-2 was acceptable (α = 0.773). The results showed a predominance of intrinsic motivation and identified regulation, indicating that participants engage in physical activity mainly for personal satisfaction and because they recognize its health benefits. In addition, a high level of physical activity was recorded, with a greater contribution from vigorous activity. However, the correlations between the level of physical activity and the motivational dimensions were low and not significant. It is concluded that motivation constitutes an important factor, although it alone does not explain the level of physical activity in this population.
