Materiales y Métodos Mediante una revisión de la literatura en PubMed, Medline, Scopus, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, Taylor and Francis, Google Scholar, se recuperaron todos los documentos disponibles sobre la fitoterapia aplicada en el tratamiento de aftas y herpes labial desde el cuatro de abril de 2023 para obtener una información clara y precisa del tema. Se incluyeron los artículos publicados desde 2018 hasta 2023, idioma español, inglés, portugués. Se excluyeron artículos que no pertenecían al tema de fitoterapia en aftas y herpes labial, tesis de grado o posgrado. Objetivo específico Determinar el nivel de efectividad de la aplicación tópica de plantas medicinales en el tratamiento de lesiones orales como aftas y herpes labial. Identificar las hierbas medicinales más usadas en la terapia de lesiones orales. Resultados Las cremas presentan un 50% de efectividad en el tratamiento de aftas y herpes bucal, mientras que las pastas y enjuagues un 75%. Es importante destacar que las plantas medicinales con mayor potencial curativo y que cuentan con varias presentaciones son la manzanilla, aloe vera, cúrcuma y eucalipto.General Objective: To collect information on phytotherapy treatments to address aphthous ulcers and cold sores. Materials and methods: Through a literature review in PubMed, Medline, Scopus, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, Taylor and Francis, and Google Scholar, all available papers on phytotherapy applied in the treatment of aphthous ulcers and cold sores were retrieved since April 4, 2023, to obtain clear and accurate information on the subject. Articles published in Spanish, English, and Portuguese from 2018 to 2023 were included. Articles that did not belong to the topic of phytotherapy in aphthous ulcers and cold sores and graduate or postgraduate thesis were excluded. Specific Objective: To determine the effectiveness of the medicinal plants’ topical application in treating oral lesions, such as aphthous ulcers and cold sores. To identify the most commonly used medicinal herbs in treating oral lesions. Results: Creams present 50% effectiveness in treating aphthous ulcers and oral herpes, while pastes and rinses present 75%.
