(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Herrera Dutan, Edgar Vinicio; García Pacheco, Andrea Verónica; 1724771272
The puerperium is considered one of the most important stages of the term of pregnancy that a woman’s body goes through, where it can cause a state of psychological fragility, with the presentation of psychiatric disorders, which can appear from mild to severe in all women after childbirth, and up to a year of it, is characterized by having short, medium and long-term effects on the mother, the newborn and the family. The objective of this study was to analyze the risk factors with the greatest impact and relevance in postpartum depression in Ecuador. A narrative bibliographic review of the scientific literature on risk factors related to postpartum depression was carried out. It was concluded that depression in the postpartum stage has been increasing in recent years, as well as the most prevalent risk factors, highlighting; marital status, socioeconomic status, and previous history of depression. These findings highlight the magnitude of the problem of postpartum depression, as well as the relevance of continuing with this line of research, formulating and proposing prevention strategies against the main risk factors mentioned above.

    Complicaciones neuropsiquiátricas por COVID-19
(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Gutiérrez Solano, José Gabriel; Solózano Bernita, Rosa; 1104566144
Introduction: COVID-19 manifests mainly as a respiratory disease, later with the course of the pandemic neurological symptoms were described, but mainly patients developed neurological complications, which manifested with neuropsychiatric symptoms in about 35.6 % of the cases with COVID-19 infection. Aim: to determine neuropsychiatric complications due to covid-19. Methods: a narrative review was carried out to gather information on neuropsychiatric complications due to COVID-19. For this purpose, indexed scientific articles published from 2020 to 2022, in Spanish and English, were consulted using scientific search engines such as PubMed and SciELO. Results: The main neurological symptoms could be the consequence of multiorgan failure, severe infection or brainstem involvement. It has been reported that patients infected by SARS-CoV-2, after 3 weeks, developed altered mental status, encephalopathy, psychosis, neurocognitive syndrome (similar to dementia) and affective disorders. Persistent neurocognitive deficits were identified in patients with delirium even 18 months after discharge. Conclusions: the effect of SARS-CoV-2 at the neuropsychiatric level is manifested as altered mental state, psychosis, depression, anxiety, neurocognitive syndrome, affective disorder, cognitive impairment, dementia, consciousness disorders. Thus, it is suggested that in the presence of risk factors such as critical patients or patients with encephalopathies, contact with persons with the infection should be prevented.

Cervical cancer has higher prevalence and mortality rates in developing countries, despite the implementation of preventive strategies such as the HPV vaccine and early detection of precancerous lesions, there is still a lack of adherence for reasons such as poor knowledge and various associated factors. Knowledge about cervical cancer is very variable, in low-income countries there is low knowledge, although in others it is high, however, the lack of knowledge about early detection through Pap smears or prevention is high. Based on the results, it has been observed that higher economic and educational stability is associated with greater knowledge and greater likelihood of having cervical cancer screening tests. Early detection may present several limitations despite the fact that health systems implement campaigns on cervical cancer, in such a way that several factors are present, in this review it was identified that socio-cultural factors such as fear and shame are the main factors involved in having a cervical cancer screening, in addition lack of time is another factor involved

The World Health Organization catalogs women, infants, children and teenagers as those particularly exposed to malnutrition. In Ecuador according to the 2018 National Health and Nutrition Survey the prevalence of overweight and obesity in school children is 35.4%. Determinate the academic performance and its association with the nutritional status in schoolchildren of the “Unidad Educativa del Milenio Sayausí” of Cuenca-Ecuador, in the school period September 2022 - July 2023. An observational, analytical and cross-sectional study. Universe was finite, composed of 960 school-age participants of the “Unidad Educativa del Milenio Sayausí”. Sample size calculated by Fisher and Navarro's formula, 530 randomized participants, using inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data was anonymized and coded. The information was analyzed through the statistical tool SPSS, obtaining tables to elaborate a conclusion. The average age of the population was 8.84 years; 50.6% were males and 49.4% females; 47.2% had socioeconomic stratum III; 57.2% of schoolchildren achieved the required learning and 42.8% mastered it; 8.7% presented malnutrition, 12.3% obesity and 16.6% overweight, representing 37.5% of malnutrition. It was found a statistically significant association between academic performance and nutritional state OR 1.60 (IC95%:1.12-2.30) and p value = 0.011. It was found a statistically significant association between academic performance and nutritional status of schoolchildren of the “Unidad Educativa del Milenio Sayausí”. We recommend implementing a prevention plan for students the education community in general, providing nutritional information.

COVID-19 infection includes several clinical manifestations ranging from cough, fever, myalgia, dyspnea, fatigue and rhinorrhea to an asymptomatic infection in some cases, to this is added and gains importance as a complication of COVID-19 coagulation diseases among which we find pulmonary thromboembolism and in fact has been able to identify patients who have come to die from this cause, generating on this basis the objective of this research and as a point to take into account in the hospital environment and by the general population the risk factors that may influence the development of PTE in adults with a diagnosis of COVID-19, in addition to the cases in which these pathologies are related and the mortality they generate. A literature review was performed and included meta-analyses, systematic reviews, review articles and research articles from different databases published between 2020-2022 in English and Spanish languages. It was concluded that there are risk factors conducive to the development of PTE associated with COVID-19 and each of them in greater or lesser relationship so they should be considered and associated taking into account that distinction, regarding the relationship of these pathologies the ranges are variable so the presentation of this complication cannot be excluded and on mortality there is an upward trend in cases of PTE associated with COVID-19.
