Ítem Acceso Abierto “Propuesta técnica económica, para obtener un mejor desempeño sísmico de un edificio en el Cantón el Tambo, mediante la utilización de muros de corte”(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2022) Loja Mayancela, Franklin Iván; Urgilés Rojas, Juan Diego; 0302692116; ., .This research aims to develop a technical, economic proposal, to obtain a better seismic performance of buildings through the use of shear walls, to reduce damages in the presence of large capacity telluric movements. The present structural design proposition has been considered in Tambo city, in Cañar Province, because it is a relevant seismic zone. This study can provide information and recommendations for future designs in this place. A descriptive and explanatory research design was used to develop the project. The methodology applied for the elaboration of this project was hypothetical-deductive to identify the sustainability parameters required for a building. This research is based on Ecuadorian Standard NEC-15 (Ecuadorian Construction Standard, by its Spanish acronym), foreign standard ACI 318 (American Concrete Institute), and the use of the ETABS tool from which the values for the structural design with and without shear walls were obtained. Finally, comparative parameters were established between a building with shear walls and the one without them. When comparing these, it is concluded that the structural budget of the building without shear walls represents 30%, which was lower than the non-structural budget, which means 70%; on the other hand, the structure with shear walls obtains 34% and the non-structural one 66% of the total amount.
