Ítem Acceso Abierto Recuperación del espacio público, peatonalización de la calle Las Herrerías(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Campoverde Castro,, María del Pilar; Tipanta Esparza, Joseline Lisseth; Espinoza Iñigues, Enma Alexandra; 0105292429; 0150171718Pedestrianization is the process of designing, planning, and transforming urban areas or street segments for the exclusive use of pedestrian transportation, excluding vehicle traffic. The main objective of this approach is to improve the quality of life in urban environments by promoting foot travel, creating safer and more pleasant spaces, promoting local commerce, preserving the heritage, and reducing air and noise pollution. Literature information was collected for the preliminary project proposals for Las Herrerías Street to become pedestrian, which gives theoretical support to the design strategies and concepts previously studied. National and international references were analyzed to obtain different design methodologies to apply later. Finally, a diagnosis of the area to be intervened was conducted by studying the context and the testimonies of relevant people. Therefore, two proposals for Las Herrerías Street to become pedestrian are generated, which preserve the tangible heritage and the existing heritage houses and enhance and revitalize the intangible heritage and gastronomy through urban design, improving people's living conditions and mobility, reducing the use of vehicles to prioritize pedestrians, and generating a significant transformation in the urban environment.
